About arena polo

If you want to continue with your polo, or perhaps especially if you want to have a go at this exciting game Arena Polo is for you. While following the basic principles of the outdoor game, there are a few fundamental differences. The outdoor field is the approximate size of ten full size football pitches – the arena is usually 100 yards long by 50 yards wide.

Rather than 4 players per side for outdoor – arena plays with 3 per side. All players are committed to the attack when the team is attacking, being prepared immediately to revert to defence should the play turn to the opposing team.

Ends do not change when goals are scored and a higher level of skill is required between horse and rider as the pace of the game is much faster. The ball is softer and larger so accuracy when creating play is essential.

On the other hand, the enclosed space of the Arena makes it the perfect introduction for beginners and novice riders.  It is a great way to learn to play polo.
